Why: First forum software and first php based script I ever used. Easy to use and customise

Wordpress

Description: Self hosted blog or content management system (CMS)

Used for: simonmaccorkindale.net, susangeorge.net and shelliwood.com

Why: Very easy to use and customise. Plenty of plugins available to add extra functions. Can keep everything in date order i.e. the articles and interview at simonmaccorkindale.net. I've tried other CMS but keep coming back to this

Coppermine

Description: Gallery script

Used for: simonmaccorkindale.net, susangeorge.net, shelliwood.net - 4 sites and shelliwood.com

Why: I've never found another script that has better functionality or easier to use. It does everything I need it to, and its fairly easy to modify styles to match layouts.

PHPList

Description: Newsletter system

Used for: simonmaccorkindale.net

Why: Easy to use tool to send a newsletter to subscribers. You can customise the look of the newsletter to match the site
